So, this past two weeks has been an absolute whirlwind.
Weekend before
Firstly there was the weekend before. I drove up to see my mum and it was awesome. We sat around, ate things and went shopping for converse. Which, oddly enough, mum got me converse for my birthday! Which, asdfghjk I don't have a pic of!
They're turquoise with leopard-print tongues. Whilst we were in the shop there were a leopard-print pair that I wanted but totally sold out in my size (this comes into use later).
She also got me disco nail varnish and a 'glow' lipstick. (Totally epic). And cake! This is my mum with my first birthday cake:

omnomnom. it was delicious. She also bought me my second birthday cake to have on the actual day of my birthday!
The week before
So then it was, lol, negl and say a quiet week. Work was hectic, I was there til ~9/10pm each day and in at 8 to get everything done. It still didn't get done.
Part way through my birthday plans hit a roadblock in the form of not being able to find any of those really cute pointed birthday hats. Then I had this crazy notion to make them from foam and material. So it basically meant every spare moment on the bus to work, whilst eating lunch, whilst doing my nightly routine was spent frantically trying to sew 16 hats. They went down a treat, people put on 'OH GOD WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME WEAR THEM' faces for pics, but they were smiling and laughing and competing for the best hats all along the way.
Thursday night
I was up til 3am making hats, baking things for work, finding clothes and trying to tidy my house. My house didn't get tidied. But I had noms for work.
Friday 27th April! The official start of the birthday weekend
Friday 27th, which I had the afternoon off of work, and to the pub Graham & I went.
First tho, it was bringing the hats to work and making all my colleagues and bosses wear them, I brought them home-baked goodies to lure them into the hats with!
A selection of the hats!

The goodies! (brownies, cookies, millionaire's shortbread and some petit fours, however it's said)

These are my bosses in the hats! (One was absent, but that's cause he was at a meeting, l to r, Gabrielle, Jon, Dan)

And these are my colleagues in the hats! (Jez is pulling the face, Tristan is lurking in the background!)

I invited a couple of people and the guys at work and oh my goodness people turned up!
Graham & Mel, Nik, Kit, Dan&Lou(boss), Chris&Kirsty(boss), Gabrielle(boss) all turned up! I really hadn't expected it, I thought me, Graham and Nik in a pub getting shitfaced, negl, kinda looking forward to it. When it comes to my birthday I'm not overly keen on seeing people I haven't seen for ages, because then I feel obligated to see them, catch up, etc and it really detracts from getting drunk and wearing hats. I like catching up with people to be their own events.
ANYWAY. Me and Graham had hours in the pub before people arrived, we enjoyed it. We had food and tried to take pictures.
Graham full after food:

Me showing off my awesome hats to the left of me, but Graham cut them out of the photo XD

Here they are!

My bosses showed up and everyone kept buying me shots and it got MESSY. A selection of pics from my phone:
My other boss, Chris

Nik

Vinny

I don't really rememebr getting home, Graham put me in a taxi and had to tell the driver my address. Well. Apparently it was about 2am.
Saturday, MY BIRTHDAY
I woke up early, still drunk and realised my plans to drive to the charity shop warehouse or convince graham to drive wouldn't work. It was then I realised I had many friend who could drive and some who were due at my house at midday. Muahaha.
I opened my cards and found mum had bought me MOAR CONVERSE. And a map of Westeros!!! And Merlin badges!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS EXCITE.
AREN'T THEY THE PIMPEST THINGS ALIVE?

And cards from lots of people in the post and omg it was just epic. Nan sent me a cheque with the words 'buy shoes' written on the back! :D
Then Nat arrived and we grabbed Graham and Mel and went digging through piles of junk! I bought some shoes and some books and some playing cards, four glasses and ridic amount of other things and it came in under £10. \o/
Then we got alcohol and organised and Mel got to mine and was like SAS THIS ISN'T CLEAN OMG. So everyone helped me clean my flat and get organised and then we started the party!
Matt and Nik showed up, and it begannn.
Vinny in a hat

Nat nomming a cupcake

My sofa dwellers (Matt, Mel, Graham)

All eating the amazing cupcakes matt made for me! PACMAN!!!

Noms for the evening

My pretty cards on my tidied bookcase!

At one point we tried blind rum-tasting

Graham won, but i think he cheated

ALSO, mum bought me little trophies and medals for games in my mini-party!
A cute pic of Nik and Vinny on the sofa

A bad moment for Matt

MY BIRTHDAY CAKE!

ISN'T HE CUTE?

Then Matt drank half a bottle of Vodka and passed out at 11:30, and Mel was sleepy anyway, they were kinda adorbs so we put hats on them

Eventually, 3am, only person left was Graham (and Nat but she was staying) so I kicked him out and went to bed! XD
Sunday
Then the next day we got up and went for a roast in the countryside, James joined us and it was awesome.
Then he complained I'd never taken him to the sea in the 7 years he's been visiting me in Brighton. My friends were shocked, so we went to the pier and played the 2p and whack-a-mole machines! We got enough tokens that we all got a little plane each!

Monday
Nik got me Thrice tix for my birthday!
First time I've ever gotten around to seeing Thrice and dear lord they were so awesome. They polled their fans for what songs to play cause it was their farewell tour. They did seriously everyone of my favourite songs, even their cover of Helter Skelter. And oh god, In Exile was amazing, and Come All Your Weary was just beautiful. They did two encores and nearly a 2 hour set, but it still felt rushed. I guess it's because they wanted to get so many songs it. It was really fantastic.
Also, I got to go with Nik, and got to see my mum beforehand because she works in Kentish Town
the rest of the week
hectic, hectic, hectic. late nights and a cold!
lostprophets
So, by this point between stupid hours at work, and my birthday celebrations I'd managed to catch a cold that made me slightly delirious. I was very determined to get to the gig tho, so I lemsipped & painkillered myself up and went to the gig. Modestep were supporting and did a fantastic show, really good with the crowd.
lostprophets, sdfghjkljh, the excitement. It was fantastic. I can't believe they even played 4am forever. I adore that song. I was vaguely worried there's be a load of stuff off of the new album, which is ok, but, imo, not as good as earlier ones. (Maybe I just don't have the memories with the newer album yet). But no, there were all of my faves played. The only thing that would have made it even more fantastic was if they'd played 'I don't know' which I figure isn't as good and popular as some of their other songs, but something about it makes me love it, so I wasn't expecting it to be played.
But yes, awesome gig, even past the cold. Generally a really good crowd as well, some cocks, but mostly nice.
And then on my walk home I found a funfare had set up in the park I walk through. It was kinda creepy in the middle of the night, so I took pics:

One more gig, the vaccines, on Mon and that's the end of my birthday celebrations!
