I can't even, so I was putting off watching being human because I didn't think I was going to like it, or rather, I didn't want to not like it, because I love it so much.

In my flat I have a total of four pop-culture/fandom/ANYTHING things on the walls of my flat that aren't old postcards, scenery or copies of famous paintings. They are:

- HP: 'Have you seen this wizarding'
- Torchwood: A picture of Ianto with a big gun.
- Blues Brothers: 106 miles to go

And finally:

- Being Human: Mitchell, George and Annie

It's right up there as one of my favourite shows and I knew Mitchell had gone, and then I got spoilt that George was going. I was going to watch, who could they possibly add that would fill those spaces? New characters that are just poor copies of them? Meh.

Then someone spoilt me that Tom, as in, adorable!tom as he's known in my head, would be the replacement for George. My brain kinda went, 'oh ho, they're bringing Tom back, actually, that's kinda a cool way to replace the werewolf'. That was enough to make me want to watch it, and honestly he did grab me straight away. It might just be because I've got a massive weakness for Remus Lupin, and it translates VERY well into Tom McNair, it's almost like a HP AU. Ahem. But just beyond his path, watching him being so lonely, and all those painful bits of his past just popping up. My heartttt. Well done writers, you've found someone whilst maybe not a replacement for George, you've made me care about.

But there was still Hal, who I knew nothing about. I thought, ew, here comes a replacement for Mitchell, I bet he's going to be like Coach and wosshisname from New Girl, just trying to swap out a character and hope we don't notice. But, well, he's not. He's more of a successful Mitchell, but he's got a lot of George in him too, and there are bits that aren't from anyway. I like him. It's a shame he's so hairless, negl it was a thing I liked about Mitchell. I'm still not sure about the accent, but the little touches of OCD and his routine are...is 'nice' the word?

Maybe I am a fickle fangirl, lured by pretty, hurt boys, and brooding, nervy men. They were obviously designed to make me like them, they fit fandom stereotypes perfectly, which Mitchell and George never quite did, well, not to such an extent. Maybe it's just they push my buttons. Maybe they're too formulaic.

The only thing I really kinda feel is missing is the anger in the background, and chemistry with Annie. Maybe it's really not there, or maybe it's because they all don't quite seem themselves as equals yet. With the original cast there was no doubt that everyone was an equal.

Mitchell might know more about the supernatural things, but he was an absolute mess that needed his friends. He really cared about them. He chose to live with them and he chose to stay with them.

George might have complained, but they really meant everything to him, and he wasn't afraid to voice an opinion, or upset someone.

Nina would most certainly be heard, and she had individual and different relationships with each of the other cast members that had time to build up.

Annie had something different with each of them, somehting they bonded over. There was no need for any of them to stay together other than they were lonely and wanted to be human. They became friends and it worked.

Now with Tom, he's at a loose end and is so worried about being told to leave that he does exactly what he's told. He'd been looked after by McNair for his whole werewolfy life that he's not really there as a person in his own right. There's flashes of what he might be, but he still does exactly what he's told.

Hal has spent the last 50 years listening to Pearl and Leo and being isolated from everyone incase he does something wrong. He's with Annie because quite honestly where else would he go? And now he's starting to feel beholden to them.

And Annie is suddenly the mother of three children. She always slightly fought for control and LETS DO THIS, K? but at the same time everyone else was like ...um, Annie you cray, lets do this. Now everything she says they listen to, mostly. She gives them orders and they follow. Which is fantastic from a ghost POV, she's very needed. She gives Tom a family, she keeps Eve safe and she's keeping Hal from eating South Wales. But...that's not the role she had before, and even she's starting to stress out a little, and look how easily she trusted Kirby. I mean.

Before, it was like two couple who were also best friends. Everyone had their own individual relationships and came together slowly, over time in different pairs.

Now, it's like Annie's a mother with three children, and they've all just been thrown together at once. idk, it's such a different dynamic, which is all you can expect, really. But still. I miss having 'housemates' as equals. Now it's Annie's boarding house for the loneliest hearts. All welcome, as long as you don't have a burn on your arm. OH WAIT. Ahem.

But, bonus points for having Arthur Weasley in it.

tl;dr? The new boys push my fandom-buttons, but I'm still missing the chemistry between the cast and a certain something the new series doesn't seem to have.

EEEEEEE Vampire Arthur Weasley!!!! I squeed so hard when I saw that episode! XD

I haven't seen 4. I'm confused where the new vampire guy's ghost girl went. I was so glad they got rid of Mitchell but I damn near cried over George and Nina... that wasn't fair :( THey can't do a whole reboot!
And what's with the girl in the future who died and is going to kill Evie?? NOOOOOO

It's very stressful. I can't even watch it with Ryan because he asks stupid questions throughout.

I like that Tom and Hal are different from George and Mitchell. And there certainly are issues of inequality between housemates. It is quite different, and parts of it I like, parts of it I don't. I feel like Hal picks up on a lot that could help Annie, but he's just started to share it with her sometimes. And he's started to tell her about things he's done, which makes it easier to tell her other things? IDK, I was so ready to be anti-Hal, but I really love him a lot. I also like when it becomes obvious he is much older than them by soooooo many generations/generational gap. And Tom, oh Tom. He's still a kid really. And I really hope he gets to grow up a bit more and be less just getting ordered around...

IDK, I have lots of feelings.
