I feel a bit obscene.

I just ordered a new 1 TB external, a new Torchwood novel, a new wireless keyboard and mouse because mine *both* fried over the weekend, and an Ianto action figure!

*runs, far far away and hides in her glee shame*

pffffft. if you're already spending the money on the external (and omg i want. but no moneys, alas) and the wireless hardware, you may as well save shipping by ordering some other stuff, right? i mean, provided it was from the same site. like amazon or something. >.>

They were from the same site, *but* it was free delivery on every item, so, uh...

I have this bad feeling about my harddrives, hence the buying of a new external that can hold all they hold. What? Me? Superstitious? Pffft.

I'm pretty gutted my old mouse broke, it changed colours and everything! It was awesome. *mourns*

Yeah, after one laptop died due to problems with the power source (likely my own fault for running it too hot too often) and I salvaged the HD from it, I've started to get paranoid about all the music and shows I've, uhm, totally legally purchased getting lost, and I've started to look at TB external for safekeeping. Also, I really want to have all my music one drive instead of split over two and also not even ripped off my cds yet. (And I'd like to re-rip a bunch of them in FLAC instead of wma.)

Also: I don't even have a mouse omg. But now I kind of want one that changes colors. That sounds so cool.

I try not to even *think* about the move over to FLAC. It makes my head hurt, I'm a total mp3 person. Dammit.

Yes, it's those legally purchased shows that worry me too.

I went for the non-networked option, although I was sorely tempted to get a TB that I could plug straight into my router and have it for all my comps. But the security settings weren't enough, and I'm really just *one* person in a small studio flat who only have 2/3 computers. I don't need a 1TB networked drive.

...a RAID tho, I totally think I need, but I know I'd just end up using it as a 2 TB drive instead of a proper RAID.

The mouse was amazing! It was only £6 (~$10?) and it amused me for, well, it broke in under a year, well, it still changes colours but it doesn't move the cursor anymore. But yes. It was awesome :(:(

Heh, half of my soundtracks are already in FLAC, which is why I'm even thinking of it. I'm not entirely sure that I can detect a difference in sound quality with my current audio set up (uhm, cheap-ass USB speakers or headphones?), but I know that as technology improves, I may want to have the FLAC. Also, I like the idea of moving away from proprietary formats/software wherever possible. And when I get my new music player, it will be able to play FLAC, and I suspect that the sound in my car will be much better with that than with MP3s. I can already tell a big difference between using the cd player and using a MP3 player with the little adapter thing. (MP3s tend to be a little bit tinny.)

(I haven't even started to consider RAID or not, because I'm still waiting to have enough extra money to actually start shopping for an external.)

And I just tried googling for a mouse like that, and my google fu sucks. The best I found was a wired mouse with a changing LED that was talked about in 2006, and it was $60, so that wouldn't even be a good replacement for you. But I guess it's okay, because it's not like I have a desk or anything where I use my laptop, and you just ordered a new mouse anyway.
